My mission is to strengthen children's academic abilities and empower them to become independent and confident readers.
My Philosophy
I believe in a child's natural curiosity and love of learning. Children at every age have the innate ability to love and enjoy reading, and I aim to cultivate that love. However, children develop and learn at varying rates and use different modalities, depending on their unique combination of abilities, strengths, and challenges. Reading can be a very difficult endeavor, affecting a child's academic progress, self-esteem, and motivation.
Individual learning abilities can be strengthened if taught using an explicit, systematic approach. I use research-based teaching strategies and learning approaches, including Orton-Gillingham and Multisensory Structured Language Instruction, to explicitly teach foundational literacy skills and provide access to effective learning tools and strategies. I evaluate and assess a child's academic strengths and weaknesses to develop an instructional plan that will help resolve areas of need and get students on track toward academic success.
